Full control of laser light

AQT’s ROWAN modules can be used for shaping laser light with arbitrary amplitude, frequency and phase for your research applications.

ROWAN is a compact module consisting of an acousto-optic modulator (AOM) in double-pass configuration. Featuring the control of laser beam intensity, frequency shifting and modulation and generating arbitrary pulse sequences, makes it ideal for quantum information, quantum spectroscopy and quantum metrology applications. ROWAN enables a frequency shift of up to several hundreds of MHz, applicable wavelength ranges from UV to near NIR, transmission efficiency of up to 75% and an extinction ratio of larger than 60dB.

The ROWAN modules are used in our quantum computer for controlling coherent laser pulses.

Small footprint, simple integration in a standard 19-inch rack and control over the laser light amplitude, frequency and phase – perfectly suitable for AMO experiments.

Space-saving integration of the modules is one main design goal. Up to six modules can be inserted, side by side, in a 19-inch rack only requiring 3 RU.

Amplitude, Frequency and Phase control

AMO experiments rely on the precise control of the frequency, amplitude and phase of the laser light. Applications of our modules reach from switching laser light with less than 1 µs rise time, pulse shaping, to controlling the phase of coherent light fields.

The wavelengths which have to be controlled depend on the used atomic species. Our modules can be adapted to control customer-specific target wavelengths, covering a broad frequency spectrum ranging from UV to NIR.
