Counting what counts in a quantum computer

The rapid development of quantum computing technology increasingly challenges businesses to assess its potential for solving their problems. However, these decisions are far from straightforward, as illustrated by a scenario explored in a master’s thesis supervised by the company Kvantify (Copenhagen, Denmark).

Quantum Computers and Supercomputers Together

A business owner faces a specific problem they hope to solve using a quantum computer. The quantum software provider assures them that the required qubits are available and brings in the hardware provider, who presents technical details like system size and qubit quality. Yet, the conversation is anything but simple: instead of gaining clarity on the best solution, the entrepreneur finds themselves in a confusing comparison of different technologies and parameters. When a second hardware provider enters the discussion, the decision becomes even more complex.

The results, future work, and more about Kvantify and the benchmarking initiative can be found here.
